Varustekko with the 3-season ultralight setup selected: 3,88 kg total, split into 3,07 kg backpack, 740 g worn, and 72 g consumables, with a proportion bar and one row per gear category.

Varustekko is a free iOS app for tracking hiking gear: what you own, what each item weighs, and the base weight and pack weight of every trip setup you build from it. Gear is organized into categories — shelter, sleep system, clothing, cooking, and electronics — so the proportion bar on the home screen shows at a glance where your pack weight actually goes. Add each piece of gear once, then group it into named setups — like “3-season ultralight” — and the app recalculates worn weight, backpack weight, and per-category totals for that trip alone. Everything lives in your own iCloud account through Apple's CloudKit: no Koodikko server, no account to create, and no analytics. Varustekko is free on the App Store for iPhone, works in English and Finnish, and supports metric, imperial, gram-only, and ounce-only units.

One gear library, many trip setups

Each piece of gear goes in once: name, what one of it weighs, how many you carry, an optional category, notes and photos. A setup is a named trip kit, such as “3-season solo”. Pick one and the same screen narrows to that trip's gear, with every total recalculated for it.

Worn weight and backpack weight

Within a setup, mark the gear you wear rather than carry, such as boots and trekking poles. The total then splits into worn weight and the backpack weight you actually lift.

It's your data, in your iCloud

Your gear list lives in your own iCloud account through CloudKit, so it is on every device you sign in to. Koodikko never sees it.
